Industry of the Month: J-Lok USA

The Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation announced today that J-Lok USA, with manufacturing facilities in Earlington has been named the inaugural Industry of the Month in the Economic Development Corporation’s program for enhanced focus on Existing Industry.

In the community since 2008, J-Lok is a world leader in resin products for the mining industry, producing a variety of cartridges that secure roof bolts to the ceiling. Parent company, Frank Calandra, Inc. has been in business since 1922, and serves the mining, tunneling and civil construction industries on six continents.

J-LOK resin cartridges are constructed with 2 compartments: one for resin, and one for the catalyst. They are designed to handle rough handling, but will shred completely and mix the two ingredients when the roof bolt is inserted. J-LOK resin is ISO 9001/2008 with Design certified. To ensure optimum performance, their Quality Management System is audited every single year.

The company has continually grown over the past six years, and now employs 80 citizens in the community. Jim Kacmar and his team have been awarded the Governor’s Safety Award the last two years, with over 500,000 work hours without a lost time accident.
